Thank you for visiting Joshbidwell.com.

This website is designed to give you small insight into who I am and provide you with opportunities to get ahold of me for questions, comments and/or speaking requests.

So far, my NFL career has been an amazing experience for me and my family.  The 2005 season was my best ever and will forever be one of the most memorable years of my life.  I was voted into my first Pro Bowl, which happened in the very same month that the first of my two boys was born. That was a dream year for me in many different aspects!

Unfortunately my 2009 season was over before it began. After dealing with nagging hip discomfort for the past few seasons that never got in the way of my performance, things took a turn for the worse the second week of training camp.  My right hip was diagnosed with a severe labral tear  that needed to be repaired.  After a very successful surgery, I have now been assured that my injury has been repaired and I will be stronger than ever next season.   My hip is in better shape now than it has been in years.  I am hopeful that, even though this surgery cost me my season, in the long run it will help me to play as long as I desire.

My career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has come to an end and a new chapter with a new  team has begun.  I am now a member of the Washington Redskins and I could not be more excited.

My family and I were sad to leave Tampa Bay but I feel very satisfied with my efforts on the field there and the marks I was able to leave behind.  Over the course of my six seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I was been able to establish the top four gross punting averages for a season in team history, four of the top five net punting averages, and three of the top four punting yard seasons as well.  I leave with the team record for career punting average and career punts downed inside the 20 yard line.  It was an honor to play for the Buccaneers and I consider myself very blessed to have been able to establish myself as one of the best players at my position in team history.  I wish the Glazier family all the best and thank them and their entire organization for the great years I was able to spend there.

Another exciting event in my life is the release of my first book, When It’s Fourth and Long, on September 1st, 2007 released by Harvest House Publishers.  This book is an autobiography that takes the reader through the trials, fears and lessons that I learned while fighting cancer as a 23 year old. Within the book are stories of the people that helped me along the way and also gives the reader a glimpse of what life has been like for me in the NFL for these past several seasons.  I know that this book will enlighten, encourage and entertain all who read it.  If you would like to get a copy it can be purchased on any major book store’s internet site including Amazon.com, Borders.com and Barnesandnoble.com.
